Contract-Aware Union Time Tracking
A production SaaS application that automates union-compliant time tracking, pay calculations, and benefits eligibility for IATSE members.
The Problem
IATSE union members are governed by complex Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs). Calculating daily overtime thresholds, meal penalties, short turn penalties, and nth-day worked premiums using manual spreadsheets was tedious and error-prone, leading to missing pay and tracking drift.
The Constraints
The system needed a highly configurable rules engine capable of executing complex CBA logic, secure handling of personal financial data, and a mobile-first interface so stagehands could log hours from the show floor.

The Approach
We built a scalable full-stack web application (Next.js, TypeScript, PostgreSQL) featuring a deterministic rules engine. It supports parent/child CBA relationships via a visual setup wizard, and integrates directly with IATSE web tools to auto-import job assignments.
The System
TiLT processes over 12 different CBA rule types to calculate gross pay in real-time. It provides complete audit trails for every calculation, tracks quarterly benefits eligibility, and includes an interactive product tour.
The Outcome
Grew from a personal tool at IATSE Local 16 into a massive 326,000+ line production platform with active users, eliminating spreadsheet math and ensuring accurate paycheck reconciliation.
