Local-First Inventory PWA (Coming Soon)
Currently under development: A fast, private, local-first inventory and asset tracking Progressive Web App.
The Problem
Existing inventory applications force users into sluggish, cloud-tethered subscription models that compromise privacy and break completely when working in basements or warehouses with poor connectivity.
The Constraints
The platform must be definitively local-first. The client application needs to act as the authoritative structured copy with full offline read/write capabilities, ensuring absolute data privacy and instantaneous performance.
Capabilities Utilized
- ▪Local-First Architecture
- ▪Progressive Web Apps (PWA)
- ▪Offline Sync Protocols
- ▪Systems Design
The Approach
We are building 'Where's My' as a responsive PWA that handles recursive records, containers, and media locally. Rather than relying on a central database, we are architecting an optional self-hosted backend that serves merely as a sync and backup peer.
The System
The system features fast asset capture, photo integration, and quantity management, all backed by local-first storage mechanisms. When a network is available, it gracefully synchronizes state across devices using a custom reconciliation protocol.
The Outcome
Status: Actively in Phase 4 of development. Core architecture and storage engines are complete, with photo and quantity capture systems currently being built out. (Private Beta coming soon).
